Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign up?
Go to your participating downtown food vendor and tell them you want to subscribe to GO Box. They will give you a small card to fill out, you pay just $12 and the cost of your meal, and VOILA – you are a GO Box subscriber and you can enjoy your first meal in a reusable to go container, feeling good about your choice to skip the disposables!

How long does my subscription last?
GO Box is only $12 per year. That’s only a buck a month to enjoy waste-free eating as many times as you like.
As an existing subscriber, you will receive a reminder to renew on the anniversary of when you first signed up.
Can I buy more than one subscription?
If you want to have a couple or several containers in circulation, no problem. You can buy as many subscriptions as you’d like.
What if I lose my container or my token?
The only way to stay in the GO Box loop is to have your container or your token. If you lose one or the other, you will need to buy a new subscription.

What does the Health Department say about all of this?
Health Department rules prohibit food vendors from serving food in a customer’s personal container. However, GO Box has solved this problem by delivering professionally-sanitized containers directly to the vendors.
Can the GO Box go in the microwave?
The GO Box container is considered “microwave-safe.” That said, it is generally better to avoid microwaving food in any plastic container, just to be on the safe side. But if you’re comfortable microwaving food in plastic containers, then this will work just fine. The container is made of #5 plastic.
How clean does the GO Box container need to be before I put it in the drop box? Do I need to wash it?
You do not need to wash or rinse the container before returning it to the drop box, but please make sure it’s as free of food and liquid as possible. If you have the ability to easily give it a quick rinse, that’s great, but not necessary.
